2019 Kitchen Trends

The kitchen is undoubtedly the heart of the home, and where you spend a large chunk of your time whether it be making family meals, helping with homework, catching up over a wine or baking up a storm. It’s important that it feels fresh, current and also represents you and your family style.

If you’re looking to build or update your kitchen this year, swoon over the top five kitchen trends for 2019 listed below, according to Australian home design website, Homes to Love.

1. Hampton's Style

This is our jam. What’s not to love about natural textured timber floors, clean white walls and wicker. This is such a beautiful, warm and laid back style for a family home and best of all you can customise the Hampton’s base, to your own style.

Simply add modern features to create a more sleek, minimalist design, a farmhouse sink and open shelving for a country cottage feel or whitewashed floors, a pop of greenery and beautiful wicker pendants for a coastal vibe.

2. Experimental Splashbacks

One place in your kitchen where it’s easy to be as creative and bold as you like. Make your splashback a focal point with a pop of colour, eye-catching patterns, beautiful textures - or our favourite, the splashback window which not only brings the outdoors indoors but also adds more natural light to the room.

3. Matte Black

Not a fan of the all white 'errything'? Then this trend is for you. Add some drama to the heart of your home, using a bold and moody tone such as matte black.

Add a little here or there with tapware and accents, or go all out with matte black cabinetry. Set against white countertops this look creates the perfect entertainer’s dream.

4. Integrated Appliances

With the open-plan home still very much a thing, comes the desire to ‘tuck away’ the everyday appliances from sight. Mismatched dishwashers, fridges and the like are cleverly disguised behind cabinetry doors leaving the aesthetics clean and beautiful with an overall, cohesive design.

5. Clever Concealed Storage

Finally the deal breaker. Storage. One thing we are dying over at the moment is the butler’s pantry. Having a place to ‘whisk away’ the dirty dishes between courses. To store all of those beloved but often bulky appliances (hello Vitamix), and just generally having a specific home with a closed door for all the wonderful pieces of kitchen and dining ware you’ve collected, certainly brings us a lot of joy!
